Pilates is a mind, body, and spirit practice with benefits that include improved posture, better coordination and balance, increased lung capacity, improved concentration and focus, increased body awareness, stress management, and injury prevention. Mat work is a great choice for all levels of Pilates practitioners because the exercises not only can build in difficulty, but every exercise can also be modified to decrease or increase the level of challenge. Practicing Mat Pilates helps build a strong, balanced body and increases flexibility. As you progress in your practice, you will notice improvements in breathing, focus, and body awareness. Mat Pilates is perfect for beginners because you only need your own body, a Mat, and some floor space to start.

Hi, I am Moira McKeon and I am trained in Stott Mat Pilates and have had the pleasure of instructing for over 3 years.
Born and raised in Dubuque, I danced with the Academy of Ballet, Dubuque City Youth Ballet, and the Heartland Ballet for 10 years, performing in biannual classical ballets as well as assistant teaching with the Director of the Academy for 3 years. Pilates has been a natural transition for me from ballet because it incorporates core strength training from ballet.
I am attending Marquette University in Milwaukee pursuing a minor in dance beyond my liberal arts studies. I am excited to work with clients of all ages and bring Pilates to more people in the Dubuque community!

Mat Pilates is a great fitness alternative for those who may not want to engage in traditional or high-impact exercises—or who may want to add variety and functional movement into their typical workout routine.
Rest assured that Pilates—a form of exercise that focuses on building core strength—is suitable for all fitness levels.
Toning of muscles comes with repetition. The more you work your muscles, the greater the toning will be. Stability wise, I find Mat Pilates to pay off greater dividends due to the reliance on your own body awareness.
Yes we would be happy to coordinate a private session for one or two people on Fridays and Saturdays. Call us to schedule.
